It has been over a month since we came home with Vanya now, and we're all getting used to each other a little bit more every day. It's hard for us to imagine the enormous change this transition has been for Vanya, but with lots of hugs and lots of patience, we're all still getting along.
His clear favorite thing to do these days is go for car rides ("machina!"), followed by moving everything from one side of the house to the other! We're quite happy to notice that he enjoys helping with many of the daily tasks that we have to do around home. He always wants to be involved when we are washing dishes, he owns a Swiffer that is just his size when it is time for that, and he even helps us turn on the nebulizer when it is time for Thor to take his medicine.
Many people ask us, "How's he adjusting?" and our answer to that is "We think he is doing very well!" There are moments when we don't know if a behavior is showing because of the transition, or if it is just a part of being two and a half! Sleep is still a struggle (as in Vanya has a REALLY hard time settling down for sleep). And we are still working through discipline (the difference in language makes things tough). And really, just the balance of everything! It is hard to have two little boys so close in age, both needing so much attention, and both so busy.
So if we aren't in communication, we are just trying to keep it together and doing the best that we can for our boys! We appreciate your prayers.
